Instead of using the internal microphone on a laptop, can Pear Note be configured to use the system sound for audio input? I like to use Pear Note to record my notes from video taped classes. I use headphones in the library to keep the audio to me, but Pear Note won't pick up the sound... Is there a work around?

There are workarounds that allow grabbing the system audio sound and turning it into an input that Pear Note can use. This is done by using a separate app, such as Soundflower.
However, it sounds like you don't need to go that far. I presume you have a video file of the class that you're playing back and want to take notes on. To do that, you can import the video file into Pear Note and play it back within Pear Note. When playing back the note, hit the lock that appears at the top of the text area that says "Unlock to modify text". This will put Pear Note into a mode where any text you type and any slide changes will be timestamped as if they were happening in real time. So, listen to your notes and change slides whenever you want them to change. Feel free to turn up the playback speed if you want to get through it quicker, or use the timeline scrollbar to jump around.
I hope that helps.
