Imported a huge video, 1.6 GB, to take notes on it (Love that ability!) and discovered a couple usability features.
    1. Saving the note takes a long time - 2.5 minutes.
    2. It would be nice if the first frame of the video would appear when the note was opened instead of just when play is pressed. At first I thought the video was unavailable because it didn't show up.
    3. The movie has chapter markers but there's no way to access them.
    4. Although the video is resizable there's no way to know when the size is 100%, 200% etc. QuickTime like controls for size and chapter markers would be great.
    5. If the video is stopped when I type, the typed text can't be used for navigation. I would think that the text would just navigate to the stopped time.

    Thanks for a great program.

Sorry for the delay in responding here. To address the above:

    1) As you're already beta testing 1.2, you've probably seen that save time has been greatly increased in most cases. In the worst case, it can still take that long, and I hope to improve this in the future, but most people will likely see near instant saves now, even for very large documents.
    2) It's in the plans, though it won't be in 1.2.
    3) Pear Note doesn't support chapter markers. I'll try to think of a way for them to work with Pear Note, but I doubt this will be included in the near future.
    4) Good point. I'll add that to the list.
    5) I'll explore this, but it's a difficult interface to make work well. Many users assume that when everything is stopped they're no longer dealing with the timeline. I'll look into this to see what I can make work.

Thanks very much for the info,
    Chad

In case anyone comes back to this thread, I'd just like to point out that #1 was addressed in Pear Note 1.2, and that number 2, 4, and 5 are implemented in Pear Note 1.2.1. If you're looking for how to view the natural size of the video, look under the View menu when the Video window is active.
