Some things I've wished for while using Pear Note (they're pretty much all related to annotating existing recordings):
1. A "skip silence" button. Some recordings have lengthy quiet passages. It would be great to be able to skip over these easily. Extra credit: have an option to snip out the silence from the recorded file (double extra credit: do it non-destructively).
2. Audio leveling and filtering. Often the recorded level is all over the map and hard to understand. How about the option of an audio limiter to equalize the level, and a filter to boost voice frequencies while reducing extraneous noise and garbage? I'm an audio engineer and could help with the specification of these.
3. A bookmarking feature. I'd love to be able to mark points in the recording and easily jump to them (maybe with the option of a special keystroke). One special bookmark should be dynamically maintained at the farthest point yet reached in the recording.
4. A button to instantly rewind 15 seconds or so. Invaluable for re-listening to things you missed.
5. A way to import audio/video by reference rather than making a disk-wasting copy of it. I know there could be issues if the user moves the source file, but isn't it true that Mac OS "alias" files keep track of their parent even if it's moved?
Anybody else like these ideas?
