It's been a looooong time since a meaningful update for Pear Note. I rely on it to take notes during hearings I conduct and except for some inconvenient functions, it remains the best note/recorder program around for my Macbook Pro. It would be great if there was some way to make sure the recorder is on in the main typing window, instead of sliding open the recorder page. And, it would be really helpful if there were some icons dedicated to certain often used highlight colors, such as yellow, orange, green and blue, and a dedicated icon to turn off highlighting (I use them often but it takes a few steps to get them to work, and I need to be listening and typing most of the time). It's disappointing that this program was off to such a good start but that it's been sitting around getting dusty for years.
Is Pear Note dead?

Pear Note is not dead, but I'm not adding features to it at this point. If Apple changes things breaking Pear Note (as they just did with iOS 11 and Pear Note for iOS), I'll do my best to get it working on the OS update. But new features/changes are not currently on the horizon.

I just got PearNote and it is just what I need. I now use it every day as a journalist - I can transcribe recorded interviews on my keyboard (via skype and ecamm skype recorder) but if I am too slow or get anything wrong I go to the exact point I want to go to and check for quotes. Keep PearNote alive, this is the best thing.. You should market hard to journos...

15:53 EDTI've been using PearNote for years, and was dismayed to find, with my new M1 iMac and Monterey (MacOS 12.5.1), that PearNote now works only on existing PearNote files: I can open, edit, save, etc., only files that I'd already created.
What I cannot do now is open a new audio file (e.g., mp3 or wav). Please get it working again--I'll pay for the upgrade!
